About Claire
Living in the far West of Cornwall, most of Claire’s paintings are of the sea and landscape within walking distance of her studio. She paints in oils and oil pastels, and has become known for the rich and vibrant colours and unique viewpoints she uses - she is usually either sat at the top of a cliff, looking down at the sea or at the water’s edge….or even in it!
Claire studied Fine Art at Falmouth art school in the late 80’s, and Fine Art Textiles at Cornwall College in the noughties and has spent a large part of her adult life working in the arts for health sector; teaching art for health and well-being and more recently running weekly classes and retreats in her studio. Over the last decade she has begun to build her own art practice alongside this, and is absolutely loving it!
Painting my paintings makes me happy, at peace; deeply connected to the place I am painting and also the sacredness of the untamed natural world around me. In such a busy, often super stressful, technology-heavy world, I find I am drawn to immersing myself in wild places that transport me back to simpler times; to stillness and silence and contented solitude. |
